The Lisbon Village Festival (LVF) is a digital cultural event divided in three areas – Village International D-Cinema Festival (VIDCF), Village Art and Village Lounge – that brings a new perspective to European culture.
The festival started at June 07th with the opening of Robert De Niro, Sr.’s exhibit, a Village Art’s event that brought to Lisbon the actor Robert De Niro. This definitely was one of the highlights of the LVF, proving the emblematic and cosmopolitan character of this event.
Also a highlight was VIDCF 07’s official selection. Besides the diversity and quality of the movies in competition, is also remarkable the fact that this is a 100% digital competition proving that the use state-of-the-art technology in making movies is a growing tendency.
This year VIDCF also presented Village Xpress, a competition for students who had in this competition the unique opportunity to show their work in a context of an international film festival.
Village Art, as already said opened LVF, had another two exhibits: “Village Art Showcase”, with artists, national and foreign, that showed how new media influenced artistic work and “The Next Big Thing”, an exhibit reserved for showing the important role that schools have on the development of the creative processes of their students, namely handling new trends and media.
Last but not least, Village Lounge, a space dedicated to music, with performances of Djs. Held at Cinema São Jorge, worked as a meeting point and a place to relax for the LVF’s public.
